CEO, Alberta Innovates - Energy and Environment Solutions

SESSION: Zero Emissions:  Where Will the Next Wave of Emission Reduction Innovations Come From?

Eddy Isaacs is CEO of Alberta Innovates -- Energy & Environment Solutions (AI-EES) and Director General for CanmetENERGY-Devon. As CEO of AI-EES, Eddy is responsible for Alberta’s strategic directions and technology investments in the areas of energy, renewables and emerging resources, and water and environmental management. As Director General, CanmentENERGY-Devon, he provides overall strategic direction with a focus on aligning the programs of the two organizations. Alongside his team, Eddy works to broaden collaborations under the Alberta-Canada Collaboratory on Cleaner Oil sands Development, strengthen partnerships with industry, and develop joint initiatives with key partners that leverage our province’s expertise and resources.

Eddy has been instrumental in promoting innovation in energy and environment across Canada and has served as co-Chair of the Energy Technology Working Group of the Canadian Council of Energy Ministers. He is regularly called upon to provide his expert opinion and insight into Alberta’s future in energy and environment.

Eddy holds a Ph.D. from the University of Alberta and a B.Sc. from McGill University. He has over 70 publications and 6 patents in the energy field. A Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Eddy serves on the Boards of the Petroleum Technology Alliance of Canada and the Alberta Chamber of Resources.

Held in Edmonton, Alta., the Zero 2014 Conference will address the goal of lowering our carbon impact by bringing together policy and clean-technology leaders from around the world.
